Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are key pieces to your car engine's functionality. They can last up to 100,000 miles before requiring replacement. But how do they work? When should you replace old spark plugs?

How A Spark Plug Powers Your Car Engine

Spark plugs are made of nickel or copper. Highly conductive metals that have a ceramic body core that are attached a hex nut and ground electrode. Voltage from the car battery deliver sparks out of the spark plug terminal in each of your engine's cylinders. The sparks ignite the fuel and oxygen that is drawn forth from the pistons. The entire system is known as the combustion process and it runs/powers your car.

When to Replace Spark Plugs?

Your spark plugs see their share of corrosion over the years. From their tips to the body, the spark plug can rust and become invaluable for delivering the sparks necessary for engine combustion. If you experience engine misfires, stalling, or your engine will not turn over, check your spark plugs. If they are old and corroded, find the match to your model trim using our process!
